Friday 10th August

Day 14 – Today we have no plans, there are last ditch
attempts to obtain the woman’s hockey bronze medal match.

It was actually very nice to have a very lazy chilled start to the day, we poodled about and ocne we realised we were not going to get the Bronze hockey match decided to stay locally in Bayswater and find a suitable watering hole to spend the afternoon and evening.

We have been very lucky in that Bayswater was nice and central for us and had everything on your doorstep, the apartment may have been a tad too tiny for us but we have managed with only a day to go to stay on good terms and not throw each other off our equally small but perfectly formed balcony.

We take the slightly longer walk down the high street and find a put with several nice big screens and equally comfy chairs.

We settle down with a nice pint of lager and watch the action unfold, the boxing is on in which we have done well in and we chat to the bar staff who comment on how nice and friendly the past two weeks have been.

Miss O pop off now and again to check the hockey on the TV round the corner and we have some food and move onto a nice pitcher of a refreshing cocktail.

We watch the BMX which gets our hopes up for more medals but although we do well in the heats we fall short when it comes to the final, exciting stuff to watch though.

We get chatting to a guy with his two children who come in for something to eat and as we chat away the little girls says she wants to be a gymnast and does she think she will be old enough by 2020 when she will be 15, we say if she has talent and is good enough why not. We are all then bought back to earth and the sad reality of the world we live in as the news has popped on in between the Olympic action to break the news of the little girl Tia who had been missing who had now been found dead. It is interesting to hear the two youngsters talk about this and also how the older brother keeps a careful watch on his sister as she pops off to the toilet. The family then depart and we say that we will watch out for the little girl in 2020.

As the ecening continue we watch the athletics, and have a couple of shots, tequila and aftershock / zambuca. As the time moves on we make our way home and look forward to our final day of action at Olympic Park tomorrow.
